Assistant Sheriff Trisha Sanchez began her career in law enforcement as a Reserve Deputy with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in 1987. She was hired as a Deputy Sheriff I /Correctional Officer in 1988. In 1989, after graduating from the Police Academy she was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff and worked various assignments within our Corrections Division, Patrol, Investigations, and Emergency Services Bureaus. Continuing to work her way through the ranks to Sergeant and then Lieutenant, Sanchez ultimately became the Bureau Commander of Investigations. Her career continued with an appointment to command the San Mateo County Narcotics and Vehicle Theft Task Forces. She was promoted to Captain in 2003, where she was responsible for the Corrections Division, Operations Division, and Investigations Divisions.
In 2008, she was appointed Assistant Sheriff. As an integral member of the Sheriff’s executive team, she currently oversees the Field Operations Division, Homeland Security Division, Northern California Regional Intelligence Center/High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, and the San Mateo County Narcotics and Vehicle Theft Task Forces.
Assistant Sheriff Sanchez earned both a B.A. degree in Business Management and an M.A. degree in Public Sector Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. She is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy and the United States Military Academy’s West Point Leadership Program presented in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department. She additionally completed the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training Executive Development Course and attended Harvard’s Business School of Executive Education.
