Command Staff - Assistant Sheriff


Assistant Sheriff Trisha Sanchez began her law enforcement career more than 26 years ago as a San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy.  From there she went on to work as a Correctional Officer and Deputy Sheriff in Patrol and Investigations. Continuing to work her way through the ranks to Sergeant and then Lieutenant, she was the Commander of the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the San Mateo County Narcotics and Vehicle Theft Task Forces. She was promoted to Captain in 2003, making her the first female Captain in the history of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and in 2008 she was appointed to her current position as Assistant Sheriff.  As an integral member of the Sheriff’s executive team, the Assistant Sheriff is responsible for all adult correctional facilities operated by the Sheriff’s Office, technology and media services as well as oversight of the Sheriff’s Office Jail Planning Division. Assistant Sheriff Sanchez holds both a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business Management and a Master of Administration Degree in Public Sector Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. She is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy and the United States Military Academy’s West Point Leadership Program presented in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department.
