On Wednesday, 12/06/2017, at approximately 7:00 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an audible fire alarm at Everest Public High School located at 455 5th Ave. in unincorporated San Mateo County. Upon arrival, Deputies observed interior areas of the school had been vandalized. Deputies conducted a walkthrough of the school campus documented the damage and gathered evidence. School staff determined nothing was stolen and there were no signs of forced entry onto the campus and within the school.
On Saturday 11/25/17 at approximately 8:00 pm, 21-year-old, Taler Butler was stopped for a traffic violation in the City of San Carlos. A check of his record revealed that he was a wanted felony fugitive from the State of Georgia for weapons and assault-related charges. Butler was arrested on the warrants and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. He will be extradited to the State of Georgia to face his charges.
On October 25th, while working in our Hall of Justice, Deputies Jeff Carr and James Salomaa were advised of a medical emergency occurring in the Jury Assembly Room. Upon arriving, they learned a juror had gone into sudden cardiac arrest and had stopped breathing.
Another juror who was present at the time, Ms. Erica Lewis just happened to be a medical doctor and with her help, Deputies Carr and Salomaa initiated life saving measures including CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle engulfed in flames that was found to be stolen. The vehicle fire was extinguished and CHP recovered the stolen vehicle.
An Unknown suspect(s) took $155.00 in cash from an unlocked cash box at a business. Investigation still ongoing.
Vehicle was towed for registration expired over six months.
Deputies responded to a grass fire that was extinguished by the fire department.
A 17 year old juvenile was found to be in possession of marijuana. She was released to the custody of a parent and case to District Attorney’s Office for review.
Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle engulfed in flames. The vehicle fire was extinguished by the fire department. No injuries were reported.
Deputy made contact with a subject who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, a pipe, and to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
